FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol – a very popular method of sending files between a home PC and a server. With an FTP program like CuteFTP or FileZilla, you can make a connection to the server and check its content in one pane, whereas the files on your computer will be shown in another pane within the program window. All you will need to do to send files or entire folders in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by numerous users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each of them can be restricted to access just one single directory on the server, so a designer, for instance, can complete their job without being able to see any other folder in your hosting account. In addition, the presence of different FTP accounts will also enable you to build multiple websites with web design tools like Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their corresponding folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Shared Web Hosting

You can create as many FTP accounts as you like with each of the shared web hosting plans that we offer, as we’ve chosen not to restrict this feature. In this way, you can maintain multiple websites all at once or grant other persons access to multiple directories. As soon as a particular job has been done and you do not want that individual to be able to connect to your web files anymore, you can edit the password for the FTP account or you can simply delete the account with a few clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about someone using it once again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with all shared web hosting plans, will permit you to view the complete list of the active FTP accounts displayed in alphabetical order. It takes just one click to administer various options for any of them – to edit the password or the access path, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated plans are astonishingly powerful, which makes them excellent for hosting numerous sites. Speaking of which, we have chosen not to put a limit on the number of FTP accounts that you can create, so you can have a separate FTP account for each site that you host on our semi-dedicated servers. All FTP accounts will be displayed alphabetically in the respective section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is offered with each semi-dedicated server account. For any of them, you’ll be able to view the access path and to modify it, if needed. Furthermore, you can set up a new account in an FTP client of your choosing by downloading an auto-configuration file and running it on your computer, which will save you time. If you have never used a web hosting account previously, you can check out our detailed tutorial video clips, which can be accessed through the exact same section of the Control Panel.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers

None of the VPS hosting plans that we’re offering includes a limit on the maximum number of FTP accounts that you can have at any moment, so you can set up an FTP account for each website hosted on the virtual server, irrespective of whether it’s under a domain or sub-domain. In addition, it does not matter which Control Panel you’ll pick when you sign up – Hepsia, DirectAdmin or cPanel, as an FTP server will be set up on your VPS during the configuration of any of them. If you want several users to set up an FTP connection to the same folder using their own personal login details, for example, it will take several mouse clicks to set up a separate FTP account for each of them. Deleting an existing account or changing the folder that it can access is just as simple and you won’t encounter any difficulties, even if you do not have past experience in such matters.
